HVM Team Looking to “Bump” Final Six Pounds Pit Crew Nears Goal in Weight-Loss Challenge
Indianapolis, Ind. (May 17, 2009) – HVM Racing is coming down the homestretch in its team weight-loss challenge – and feeling confident the crew will reach the finish line.
The HVM team has lost 94 pounds in its “Gotta Be Fit to Be in the Pit” challenge, which kicked off at the first IndyCar Series race in St. Petersburg, Fla., on April 5. Driver E.J. Viso and sponsor Herbalife challenged the team to lose 100 pounds – approximately the equivalent of a set of racing tires – by the Indy 500. Today, Bump Day, marks the one-week mark until the weight-challenge deadline.
Herbalife is a team sponsor of HVM Racing and a personal sponsor of Viso. The company’s medical experts have helped guide the team in their weight-loss efforts.
HVM is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. In its eight years of competition, the team has earned six wins, two pole positions, and an additional 16 podiums since 2001. The team finished fourth and third, respectively, in the Champ Car championship standings in 2006 and 2007, and earned its drivers Mario Dominguez and Robert Doornbos Rookie of the Year honors in 2002 and 2007, respectively. In 2008 with driver E.J. Viso, the team earned seven top-10 finishes, including a fourth at St. Petersburgin its inaugural year in the IRL Championship.
