HVM Racing Signs Nelson Philippe for Indy 500 2006 Surfers Paradise Winner Rejoins Former Team
Indianapolis, Indiana (April 24, 2009) – HVM Racing will field a second car in the 2009 Indy 500 with former HVM driver Nelson Philippe at the wheel. The entry in the Greatest Spectacle in Racing will be the 22-year-old Frenchman’s second stint with HVM. Philippe won at Surfers Paradise and finished fourth in the Champ Car championship when he competed for HVM in 2006.
Philippe will compete alongside HVM teammate E.J. Viso, driver of the No. 13 PDVSA HVM Racing Honda Dallara.
“We are excited to have Nelson driving again for HVM Racing,” said Keith Wiggins, team principal. “He won for us in 2006, which was quite an accomplishment for such a young driver and had his best ever season. Although coming back will be to a new Series, a new track, with huge competition and in the biggest event of the year, we will work together to achieve a good result. We always like challenges.”
Sponsorship of the Philippe car will be announced shortly.
